Structural welding: why qualified procedures make a difference

In lifting devices, transport frames and industrial structures, welded joints are critical points. Forces pass from one part to another through them, and a failure there compromises the entire piece of equipment.

From procedure to welder

Each type of joint is executed according to a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), which defines the process, consumable, parameters and preparation. The procedure is validated through testing, and welders are qualified to perform it. This way, the result does not depend on individual talent but on a proven method.

Distortion control

Welding heat distorts steel. Welding sequence, proper clamping and assembly fixtures help keep the part’s geometry within the tolerances defined in the design.

Inspection

Once completed, welds are inspected according to the project’s level of requirement — from visual inspection to non-destructive testing. This is what turns a welded joint into a reliable joint.
